TRAINING PROGRAM OVERVIEW . . .
What to expect . . . in the Process of Joining!
1. Check us out! Website . . . download one of our Brochures, Fact Sheets, other information, and/or call our Recruiting Officer.
2. Unit Orientation. Reserve a seat at our next Orientation Briefing (Must bring at least one parent (or guardian). Bring a friend. Don't be late!
3. Board Interview. If you like what you see, schedule a Board Interview conducted by our Senior Cadets. Actually show up for the Interview.
4. Acceptance. Upon Acceptance, you will receive a set of orders and a slot at the next available Officer Training Flight "OTF" Class.
5. Induction Day. Your first day of Officer Candidate School (OCS), you and the rest of your OTF "Officer Training Flight" will have your first grueling test to see if you have what it takes (always all-day Saturday). End of the Day and "Oath of Office" Ceremony can be attended by Family.
6. Next 15-Weeks. OCS and your initial training will continue for the next 15 weeks. Should you make it through the requirements, you will be Commissioned a Cadet/2nd Lieutenant "C/2Lt" in the Air Force Explorers.
7. Squadron / Staff Assignment. Upon your Commissioning, you will be assigned to a local Squadron, a Staff Billet, and will also be allowed to advance to the full compliment of other AFX & Leadership courses.

Commissioned Officers Training (COT) Courses
AFX Commissioned Officers Training Course (COT) - 20 Hours
AFX COT Course is designed to train former Explorer Cadets, Military Officers / NCO's, Military Veterans, Scouters, or civilian adults coming into or back into the Air Force Explorers Program as an Adult Advisor, ages 21 or older. Parts of it may also be used as a guideline for Officer Refresher Training. COT Course consists of eight (8) areas of required knowledge for an Officer-Adult Advisor.
